Review - "Bangkok Dangerous"
Reviewer: Charise Payne Rating:
When the trailer first came out for this film, 'Bangkok Dangerous', I had high hopes for it, I mean how bad could it be; it has Nicholas Cage in it. Well to answer that question it was very bad, in fact it was horrible.
This remake, 'Bangkok Dangerous', is about an assassin who wants to have a few last kills before he retires so he can have a nice nest egg to start his new life with. Cage plays Joe, the assassin who has very strict rules for himself but seems to break every rule without thinking twice about it. Weird.
He say's not to become emotionally involved with people yet best-friend one and becomes romantically attached to another. Specking of romance, those scenes as sweet as they were, were odd and uncomfortable to watch. She was deaf and he didn't sign, they knew nothing about each other except that they both found each other attractive. Thank goodness he didn't jump her bones, that would have been very painful to watch since all she could do was smile or frown at him.
Needless to say this movie blowed! The script was week, the acting laughable, and the editing was some of the worst I've ever seen. I felt like I was watching "B" movie that was meant to go direct to video but somehow got leaked to the big screen. You never know, maybe that's what happened.
The film did have a few good parts, those being the action sequences. Seeing things explode and having people end up in chunks is always entertaining when your board.
After seeing this movie, I understand why the media weren't screened; the film distributor didn't want reviews like this ruining its first week box office sales. Never the less, if you are a Cage fan or a lover of all things that explode then go see it, if not don't wait your money.
