The story of Bella and Edward is captured in picture and word. Stephenie Meyer was really involved with this project, so you can kind of see what she was picturing as she wrote this Twilight tale. The story is the same: girl meets vampire, girl falls in love with vampire, vampire loves her back and almost gets her killed.

The story begins as Bella is moving to Forks, Washington, from Phoenix, Arizona. She is not a fan of the cold weather, but she feels she has to sacrifice this for her mom to be with the new husband. Bella makes new friends quickly on the first day of school as well as a possible enemy. As the story unfolds, Edward Cullen is not an enemy — not really. Edward is a vampire. Not a "burst into flames when the sun shines" vampire, but a vampire that glitters in the sun. Edward is drawn to Bella's blood, so much so that he has to practice some beyond normal self-restraint to not lure her away and attack her. The novel ends just after Edward has confessed this to Bella.

The story line is the same as the novels, but is a little hard to follow. While Young Kim's paneling isn't horrible, her pacing is off, and the book reads unevenly. The dialogue is stilted, and the characters come across as a little annoying rather than expressing their longing. Twilight: The Graphic Novel reads like a first draft, where all the pieces are there, but have yet to meld to actually fit together. There are certain angles and physical poses that Kim has not yet mastered, and they stand out in this graphic novel. Overall, the graphic novel turned out to be more of a collector's item than an actual worthwhile read.
